JackTrip App 2.4.0

What’s New?

  • New Studio Creation Interface
  • Latency Adjustment
  • Audio Warnings

New Studio Creation Interface

JackTrip’s studio creation interface now automatically selects a location close to you, and includes new settings designed to help you find other people to play music with on JackTrip.

Latency Adjustment

JackTrip uses AI to minimize your audio latency. It analyzes your incoming audio traffic to learn various things about your Internet connection. JackTrip then uses this knowledge to automatically make adjustments over time to pinpoint an ideal balance between latency and quality, while filling in any gaps with predictions. It’s gotten so good that we’ve decided to remove support for other buffer strategies in Virtual Studio.

A lot of people are using JackTrip for different things these days, and sometimes you may prefer to trade a little bit of latency for higher audio quality. This release adds a new “Adjust Latency” setting that allows you to fine tune it to your liking.

Audio Warnings

JackTrip tries to detect common audio configuration problems so that you can correct them before they lead to bad experiences in studio sessions. When you try to join a studio session with an active audio warning, it will now open a dialog to confirm that is what you really want to do. We’ll also provide links to more information when appropriate.

We’ve also added detection for a few new common mistakes that we’ve seen people make, including trying to use speakers.

Lots of new things to explore! Thanks.

On the Windows version, I noticed that my two older interfaces - Scarlett 2i2 - 2nd Gen and Behringer UMC204HD both are coming in as High Latency WASAPI.

Up to 2.3.1, they show up as Low Latency ASIO. Also ASIO4ALL is not showing up at all.

I updated the drivers on both of those interfaces but there is no change.

Anybody else finding older interfaces are showing up as high latency in the audio settings?

@miked is support of the older interfaces dropping off of JackTrip’s low latency profile?

@Synthia Are you using the official Windows build downloaded from JackTrip.com? It’s now the only one that supports ASIO.

ah - ok. I always go to the github releases to see what’s on the menu. I’ll try the one from Jacktrip.com.

Thanks!

The Official Windows build worked flawlessly with both devices and ASIO4ALL! thanks again.

On GitHub, the official release builds have “signed” in the filename.
