New Latency Indicators
Audio latency is how much time it takes for one person’s sound to reach another. It’s critical to have low latency for live music performance, ideally under about 25 milliseconds.
To help you understand and optimize latency, we’ve created new latency indicators that now appear in the upper-left corner whenever you hover over someone’s video window.
The indicators will also be shown when someone is detected to have high latency. This can be caused by any of the following:
- Using a web browser to connect to the studio
- Being too far away, or having a high latency connection to the Internet
- Using large audio interface buffer sizes (512 or greater)
- Using the desktop app on Windows without using ASIO drivers
You can hover over a latency indicator to get more details:
Our new latency indicator replaces the (green, yellow, red or grey) headphone icons that we had previously.
Did you know that you can click on any video window in your studio to enlarge or shrink it? We’ve made a few enhancements to this feature, including new indicators that appear whenever you hover over someone.
In-Studio Notifications
You can now receive notifications about JackTrip Radio content and product updates, without having to leave a studio.
