Studio Discoverability Reminders

Whenever someone creates a new studio, JackTrip asks if they are looking to connect with other musicians. Most people tend to leave this set to the default of “I’ll decide later.”

If you haven’t made a selection yet, you’ll get a reminder the next time you visit your studio’s dashboard. We hope that this will encourage more people who are looking for other people to play with to make themselves discoverable.

If you are looking for other musicians to connect with, we’ll now also ask if you’d like to enable public sessions. This will make your active sessions visible to everyone, and allow anyone to join you with just a few clicks. No invites required!

Don’t worry! You can change any of these things at any time in the “Settings” tab of your studio dashboard.

Updated Audio Quality Slider

JackTrip’s Audio Quality Slider now has a separate button to toggle the “Auto” setting. When set to “Auto” (the default), JackTrip tries to find a good balance between latency and audio quality for you. We recently updated this algorithm to prefer quality (adding more latency versus before) for poor quality Internet connections.

When “Auto” is disabled, we’ve made it easier to select smaller values. Now you can drag it all the way to the left to get the lowest latency, all the way to the right to get the highest quality, or find your perfect balance somewhere in between.

Wherever you set it, we’ll always use the least amount of latency necessary for each person’s connection. And JackTrip’s AI will always give you far better quality at any specific amount of latency when compared to any other live collaboration platform.

Updated Styling for Join Buttons

The updated buttons make it clearer that you can click them to join studio sessions. If a studio has an active session that you can join, you’ll now see a red “Join Studio” button. If you have permission to start a new session, you’ll see a red “Start Session” button. The button will be grey for any other studios which do not have active sessions; you can still click those to wait for someone else to start a new one.
