Troubleshooting Echo on JackTrip

An echo when using JackTrip is typically caused by one of the following:

  • Anyone not using headphones. All participants using the JackTrip Desktop App or Bridge Device must use headphones to avoid echos and feedback loops. Participants using a web browser may choose to enable “echo cancellation,” but note that web browsers have high latency.
  • Setting “Studio Echo” volume to a value greater than zero. See Hearing Yourself on JackTrip
  • Some people refer to the reverb effects in Soundscapes as an “echo.” Try setting your Soundscape to “No effects” to see if this makes a difference.
  • Setting your “Monitor” volume to a value greater than zero when you have a very high latency audio device. If this happens, it is a clear sign that your audio device is way too slow to work with JackTrip.
