Jacktrip Live and Jacktrip recording

hello all … I’ve got a hard start but for now I have pointed out what’s good what’s bad

my recording expireance on studio is not so far that I can say that I’m a pro

but the live signal from the unmanaged studio via echo is greater than the recordings from studio

so I decide to record the live stream locally to get the best out of jacktrip

I’ll share here a link to a recording on jacktrip studio what’s really bad because that is not the sound what playback the live signal … it’s a kind of difference like 10 and 100

means the 10 is the recording the 100 is the live stream

here is the recording by studio: florit's Studio - Recording 2026-03-29 | JackTrip Labs

and that’s not really what’s the live signal or the original beat

so I must rate: record the live stream locally and the video separately

put it later together and upload it to share with the community

I use “loopback audio” , “blackhole16ch” and “Luna” from UA to record the echo from an unmanaged studio

this tros applications I can rate for macOS users but blackhole16ch also for windows users to have

Thanks for posting the recording - agreed it does not sound very good. Were you using your unmanaged server? If so, there might be issues using the Virtual Studio to record the output of your unmanaged server.

Tagging @miked for more information and suggestions.

Hello synthia … Well @nessus.at Network Center in Austria/Vienna It Runs on a Dell Hardware as vm and in this vm the Docker

yes I know … Overdrive pure

the Problem is only the „Studio Recording“

If i Feed the Server and lisent to the Studio Echo

I‘m Real happy with the Sound … @miked has helped me a Lot … he work Like a Hero

With the Security of the Docker Image I got a big issue : if it Running there is no Auto Update … so I Must Login to my Remote Box and run „docker execute within bash“ to Login to the Image …

Then run „dnf update -y“ to get last Updates and run „dnf install dnf-automatic -y“ edit with my Favorit Shell Editor/etc/dnf/automatic.conf

Then i run „systemctl enable dnf-automatic.timer“ and „systemctl start dnf-automatic.timer“

After this I can Logout within „Strg + D“ twice times

And the Image Runs nice without Error Message

ONCE can BE… the distance between my Server and the closest Point of JackTrip Cloud

That’s Could be an issue for the Recording

and yes there is no Kernel config in the Docker Image so I Must edit the file /etc/sysctl.conf and run After the edit „sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.conf“

Thanks for the follow-up and props for @miked. Admittedly, these protocols are a bit beyond my experience but still is valuable information for others using unmanaged servers. Again many thanks for your contribution and participation. Please keep us posted on your progress.

fx load without plugins???

that made me questioning

What are your questions?

What does it say when you hover the mouse
over the ‘i’ icon (to the right of where it says ‘studio fx load’

Oh I see now (with glasses) clean slate still has fx load…hmmm

yes else option got fx load

is this an exploit?

every 1s a change

don’t know really what’s going on but I think this fx load make my sound bad

I will check mine in a bit and see what it does

I got a Special file that got near end a Special Sound … dont know way is there … but hear

The Beginn is white stripes … 7 Nation army

But then it change in unwanted Sound

The only option on that link goes to a download? Can you make it so that
people can just play it and not have to download it? Personally I do not
want to download a file. I would rather be able to just play it.

Sorry for that this Option i don‘t have

It‘s a 16Bit 96KHz wav file … i Could zip it but this makes it „marked as dangerous“

So i decide that the 14,7MB plain wav file is the only Option

Did you know a webservice Where I can Upload it to have the Play Option?

there are many - do an online search and you will find many

I‘ve found one site … hope that works

yes that worked! thanks. The selection is copyrighted material so I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Regarding there being some FX Load even when using the “Clean Slate - no fx” Soundscape: there is supposed to be a “FX Bypass” toggle switch in the “Manage Soundscapes” panel that would disable all audio processing. But I don’t see it.

  • The “Bypass FX” Setting: If the “Bypass FX” setting is not explicitly enabled, the system might still be running the default “Standard” Soundscape behavior, which includes basic Panning to the center and other “hidden” processing.

@miked could you shed some light on this for us please?

I use a radio stream to test best option for recording … so i can test voice and other instruments for the best option to record

But this industrial sounds late in the recording are suspect

Did jacktrip filter out copyrighted materials by AI ?

Then it could be that it’s industrial sound is a anti piracy option by jacktrip

But i got same problems with a beat that i have self designed with a drum software

In my first post in this thread … so I wonder when it is a anti piracy option by jacktrip

But what make the „cover“ bands??? Their sound will be unusable on jacktrip studio

All good questions! Probably my copyrighted theory is not the issue.

One thought I have is that a radio stream is already highly compressed
and if it is true that the JackTrip “Clean Slate” Soundscape still has
some “hidden” compression by default that would be even more compression
on top of already compressed radio stream! So maybe this is what that
sounds like.

let’s see if @miked can help us understand better.
