[Resolved] 2nd Gen Scarlett 2i2?

2nd Gen Scarlett 2i2?
also, Behringer UMC204HD

these are two of the devices that JackTrip recommended and many members purchased when jacktrip.com launched. I saw something here or there about aging out equipment and operating systems but couldn’t find it. I am wondering if the devices above are no longer considered low latency devices.

core members have substantial upgrades to address with aging out these two devices as well as upgrading unsupported operating systems.

@miked : could you please post links to your announcements or more info on this?

thank you all.

2i2’s are great devices and i would still recommend them. Newer generations add lots of great features (like auto gain and audio routing come to mind), but I don’t think latency has changed.

I’m not familiar with the Behringers. Do they offer ASIO drivers?

Hi Synthia, I think you may have somehow obtained an unofficial build that lacks ASIO support. Please try uninstalling JackTrip, downloading from here and reinstalling.

That was it - the signed installer worked like butter. As I mentioned, I remember you saying something about ASIO support being removed EXCEPT when the manufacturer supplies it.

So, just to clarify, I have ASIO from the manufacturer installed, but when I use the binary version in jacktrip.com, the devices are detected as high latency and do not function properly. Is that right?

ASIO requires that each thing supports it: audio interface/hardware, software driver from manufacturer for windows to talk to the hardware, and audio software app (JackTrip).

ASIO is owned by Steinberg and requires that the publisher has a license agreement with them, which is why we only include it in the official builds that are signed by JackTrip Labs. This license is also incompatible with GPL, which is why we had to remove classic mode/QJackTrip from these builds.

thanks for your late night reply. I appreciate it.
