When I was setting up, and alert came up whereby an app wanted to connect to my microphone and camera. Unfortunately, in my haste, I hit “do not allow” by mistake - and now the video won’t connect. I’ve tested the camera and know that it’s working, so there’s an issue in connecting to JackTrip. I went into settings and that app shows up as connected, so I can’t see what the issue is.
It’s a Dell laptop, running Windows 10.
All offers of help gratefully received… and thanks in advance.
If you are using the Chrome browser - go the your studio dashboard page, which runs in a browser window and look at the very top right in the address bar.
Is there a little red X next to a camera icon? If so, click it and you should get an option to change that setting.
No, no red X next to the camera icon. However, when I click on the bars at the bottom of the video screen, I get a “Left: No Audio Right: No Audio” message.
update: those bars you clicked on at the bottom of the video screen are for audio only, and means that there is no audio being detected. If you make some noise, is there any movement on those bars? If so, your audio device is ok.
If not, we’ll deal with that next. What audio device are you using? Built-in mic and headphones? If so, you’ll need more help. But let’s address the video first.
For the video issue, you probably need to unblock it manually. Try the following steps:
Click the Settings and more button in the upper-right corner of the browser
Select Settings
Select Cookies and site permissions
edit: —> 3b. Under site permissions - select Camera and check to see if JackTrip is being blocked or has permission.
Also check Pop-ups and redirects under All permissions
Toggle the Block (recommended) switch to turn on or off the pop-up blocker
You can also allow pop-ups from specific websites by selecting Add next to Allow. Then, enter the website exactly as it appears and select Add after each one.
After that, I would also clear the browser history in case there is some instance of the block that keeps getting enabled.
did you already check the “Site Permissions” settings?
how about the camera privacy settings?
Below are some steps for each from the Windows 10 support page:
go to any browser page
upper right corner click the 3 little dots
select settings
select Cookies and Site Permissions
Under site permissions - select Camera
see if JackTrip is there and toggle it on to give permission
camera privacy settings:
In Windows 10, go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Camera.
Make sure that “Desktop Apps” have permission to use your camera
Also in those settings: ensure that you have enabled the setting to Allow desktop apps to access your camera. If you need more info you can just type that phrase into the Windows search bar.
Have done all that, but still nothing - however, I have noted that under Settings>App Permissions>Camera, there is no JackTrip app, but there is a “Qt QtWebEngineProcess
C:\Program Files\JackTrip\QtWebEngineProcess.exe”, which is marked as “Currently in use”. Is that right?
Hmmm did you see ‘Site Permissions’ in the settings? Take a closer look at the steps. yeah that file part of Jacktrip but maybe something got messed up.
Which version of Windows? Jacktrip requires version 1809 or later.
If you have a later version, how about uninstalling Jacktrip, reboot the machine and reinstall it?
