Internet access via Starlink

Internet access via optical fiber is the method of choice, if you can get it. However, for those who can tolerate higher latencies a Starlink connection might be considered.
Does anybody have practical experience with this?

Hi,

I am Luca Borgianni, and currently, I am a Visiting Student Researcher at Stanford Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). My project is mainly focused on analyzing Starlink’s performance for Networked Music Performance. You can find some preliminary results on my page: Luca Borgianni. Moreover, we are collecting data with some real jamming sessions, and we hope to have some results in a short time. Feel free to contact me for further information! My email is luca.borgianni@phd.unipi.it

Hi Luca,
thank you so much for your research.
Last month I attended a workshop in Tuscany with violin and guitar players from different parts of Europe. As a regular JackTrip user I suggested to the workshop participants that we might continue our musical collaboration beyond the 4 days spent in a magic bubble.
For those with optical fiber this is perfectly feasible and has already materialized. The question arose whether Starlink might be a viable alternative for those without fiber.

I have contacts in Italy and France for whom Starlink might be the only solution if this can be shown to work well for real-time jamming. Perhaps, thanks to your research, they can be brought on board
