Communication between musicians

Dear people,

I am very satisfied with the possibilities of Jacktrip! In my opinion it is the best product that exists!

What I miss however is a simple way to find/contact other musicians.
The help of https://community.jacktrip.org and Make Music Together Online | JackTrip Labs are oke, but it remains difficult to find someone who has the right instrument, genre and distance due to the delay.

JamKazam, does offer more possibilities to find musicians. (JamKazam)
This may also be possible with Jacktrip. A clear list (including search function) of musicians with their instruments, level, country/distance, etc. who want to play with others and with whom communication can be made (including signaling).

Perhaps a map with location would be an extra nice visualization.

Hi @jcool,

Thank you for your feedback!

If you click the “connect” button on any of the musicians listed on jacktrip.com, you can learn more about them and send messages to coordinate a time to connect. Like any messaging app, these conversations are both private and persistent. Is that what you mean by “signaling?”

Currently one would have to click through every result to find someone with a matching genre/instrument, which is certainly not desirable! When we launched this, I think we were more concerned about starting out with zero (or way too few) results – often referred to as the “cold start problem.” It’s encouraging to hear that we’ve reached a point where adding more search filters than just distance would help! I hope that we can add those soon.

Take care,
-Mike

Hi Mike,

Sorry for my late response.
Thanks for the explanation. I now understand that you can communicate via the ‘connect button’ and the bell.
I think it would indeed be useful to see a list of musicians with all kinds of search options and possibly invitations. I’m curious about new developments.
